Paris banned cars on some of its streets for a day and its quality of life improved significantly. On September 27 the City of Light held its first “car-free day” (well sort of car-free day) as part of the worldwide car-free movement that began in the 1990s. Sustainability advocate wins MacArthur “Genius” Award

An environmental advocate who works to make hospital practices more environmentally friendly has been named a 2015 MacArthur Fellow. The honor, colloquially known as the MacArthur Genius Award, provides a $625,000 stipend and was given to only 24 people in the world this year. GN4N relies on me to carve out the humor in environmental events. Usually all the task requires is a blunt knife. We all grin and bear the U.S. presidential campaign. Same with world celebration of celebrity over substance. But I can’t find anything funny about Volkswagen’s fraud in intentionally hiding the emissions produced by its “clean diesel” engines.
